Once again, Japan is on the leading edge of everything. While American TV shows have game shows and reality programs that require costly human contestants, the Japanese show “Shimura Zoo” has cut overhead drastically by filming monkeys trying to solve problems for bananas (clips below). Add some silly sound effects that cater to children and the mentally challenged, and it’s still twice as smart as any episode of “The Bad Girls Club.” Less feces-throwing, too.

Because we’re so far behind in America — I still can’t find any vending machines selling panties — this kind of show won’t catch on in the States for another decade or so. Of course, by then Japan will have mastered robot dating shows. The secret to healthy robot love? More WD-40.
